Financially the Committee has to be self-supporting. We do not receive any funding at all.
We do try to keep costs to the bare minimum, but we do, of course, have to stay afloat!

Awards Presentation

Sunday 28 September 2014 — St George’s RC Cathedral, Southwark

RSCM Gold Award

Successful candidates from the 2014 Awards examinations will be presented with their medals at the evening service in St George’s RC Cathedral and will have the opportunity to sing with the Cathedral choir.

Invitations to attend were sent out with results; please make sure you have replied to confirm attendance or non-attendance. Choristers should arrive at 1:15pm for important general organisation followed by a rehearsal with Cathedral choir, making sure they are dressed suitably - no jeans or trainers. Bring the music - all choristers will need Ave Maria (Lindley) and Bishop’s choristers will also need Harwood in A flat and Wash me throughly (Wesley).

The timetable for the day is:

  • 1.15pm: Arrive and meet in the Amigo Hall
  • 1:30pm: Choir practice
  • 3:30pm: Choral Vespers with the Cathedral Choristers and Lay Clerks
  • 4:30pm: Photographs

Psalms, Songs and Spirituals

Songs, Psalms and Spirituals is a new, photocopiable collection published by the RSCM suitable for all seasons and all occasions. Jonathan Robinson, the area chairman for RSCM Sussex, will introduce the book, in an event jointly hosted by the URC Musicians’ Guild. You can download an application form and you may also need a Parental Consent Form.

RSCM Gold Award

The Area is adopting a new syllabus for 2015 and this workshop is an opportunity to work through the requirements of the Deanís and Bishopís (Bronze and Silver) Awards and to gain a clear understanding of the changes and the standards expected. Suitable for potential candidates of all voices and for those who train them.

The application form includes more details and you may also need to complete a Parental Consent Form. The closing date for entries is Friday 3 October 2014.

Melvin Hughes and Frances Novillo lead an opportunity for church choirs to explore available repertoire for commemorating the centenary of the outbreak of World War One and to take part in a Festival Service. You can download an application form and you may also need a Parental Consent Form.
