Successful candidates from this year’s Dean’s and Bishop’s Awards examinations will be presented with their medallions and certificates during Choral Evensong in Southwark Cathedral, at 3:00pm. The award winners will join the Cathedral Choir in singing the service.

Those taking part must attend the rehearsal before the service, arriving at the Cathedral at 1:30pm. The music is:

• Canticles: Walmisley in D minor
• Introit: Turn thy face from my sins (Attwood)
• Anthem: How beauteous are their feet (Stanford)

Please remember your music, robes and smart dress (black shoes, no jeans, no trainers).

Our annual Ten-Pin Bowling Competition comes to Croydon, at the Megabowl on Sunday 3 October 2010. Then new venue is in Hesterman Way and you can download the information including an application form. You will also need a Parental Consent form.

This Evening, 6:30-8:45pm, is an opportunity to meet the RSCM’s Director General, Lindsay Gray, and to find out more about the latest work of the RSCM. The evening will include musical participation and presentations, and an opportunity for discussion with leading musicians and clergy. You can donwload a poster with the important information.

Light refreshments will be available. Evensong sung by the Cathedral Choir is at 5:30pm, to which all are welcome.

Your church should have received an invitation but even if you have not seen this, you are still welcome. Please let us know how many will be attending by email to or telephone 020 8653 3305, by 17 September. There is no charge and there will be a retiring collection towards the work of the RSCM Southwark and East Surrey Area.

This workshop is for potential candidates of all voices for the Dean’s and Bishop’s Awards (Bronze and Silver) and for those who train them. It is an opportunity to work through the requirements of the awards - with the examiners - and to gain a clear understading of the standards expected.
