Welcome to the
RSCM Southwark and East Surrey Area website
Chris Greenhalgh, RIP
We were shocked and saddened to learn of the untimely death on 29th June of Chris Greenhalgh from a heart attack. Chris was Organist at St Peter’s, Croydon and for many years a member of our Committee and Examiner for the awards. He will be sorely missed.
Autumn Events 2010
We have a number of events lined up for the coming term and details are available on the Events page.
Everyone is welcome to our Open Evening on 5 October, when we will be joined by Lindsay Gray, RSCM Director General, and have the chance to experience and discuss a range of topics relating to music in church.
The 2010 Ten-Pin Bowling Competition has a new venue for this event this year.
Who are We?
The Royal School of Church Music is an educational charity
dedicated to raising standards and promoting music in every style of Christian
worship and every denomination.
Members are drawn from different denominations, they worship in
different ways, they enjoy different musical styles, but what they have
in common is the belief that good music, used effectively, greatly
enriches Christian worship.
The Southwark and East Surrey Area Committee provides
local support and training for all churches in the area covered by the Anglican
diocese of Southwark.
